Slow Bending Axe

Good morning, morning, morning, morning, afternoon. Today is a wonderful day, not because the sun is shining, not because there are actually humane temperatures outside, and not because a new Wilco album is being released this June. The reason for today's wonderfulness is a combination of the previous stated reason, which can be summed up in a simple sentence; Today is the last day of February. There may not be a universal dislike for the month of February, yet I can't help but harbor a disdain for the said month in my heart. Perhaps it's because the weather is (for the most part) macabre, maybe it's because I always forget the unnecessary first "R" when spelling the word, whatever the reason, I'm not a zealot of February. Therefore, I'm glad that it's over. Onwards? I should think so.

New Wilco Album? This June? Bitchin'!

As you have probably already gathered from the title of the above inconspicuous subheading, Wilco is releasing a new album this June. Rolling Stone's Smoking Section got a special preview of seven songs on the new Wilco album, and they absolutely raved that it sounded like "a home run". Yankee Hotel Foxtrot? I think not. I still have high hopes for this album though. Confirmed tracks/titles are: “Wilco, The Song,” “Deeper Down,” “My Country Has Disappeared” and “Sunny Feeling.” Here are a couple live MP3s of some new Wilco, via You Ain't No Picasso.

Dark Was the Night, Amazing Was the Album

Dark Was the Night is stunning. For those of you who haven't heard of it (I'm certain that I posted the tracklisting a couple weeks ago?), Dark Was the Night is a charity compilation (composed with a slew of bad ass musicians) benefiting the Red Hot Organization, which is an organization helping to improve awareness of HIV and AIDS. Far away from West Virginia

Good afternoon universe, and welcome to the first beautiful November week, here on Looks Like Coffee, Tastes Like Juice. As you might be able to tell, November has ultimately changed me, and I feel like a new man this month. I'm banking on this feeling wearing off in the next couple days, but for now, I'm taking advantage of this unexpected euphoria, and I'm going to enjoy the rest of the day, which is the reason I'm posting about 8 hours earlier than I usually would.

Good evening my friends, and welcome to another still Thursday, here on Looks Like Coffee, Tastes Like Juice. Tonight is going to be another installment of the Band of the Week post. So, if you've been having a bad/average week, allow this next band to make your week THAT much better. So, without further ado, the Band of the Week.

The Band of the Week; Wilco

This week's Band of the Week is Wilco. Wilco is an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 1993. They formed after the members former band (Uncle Tupelo) lost their vocalist. Although they've gone through some massive line-up changes, their current line-up is Jeff Tweedy (Vocals and Guitar), John Stirratt (Bassist), Nels Cline (Guitarist), Pat Sansone and Mikael Jorgensen (Multi- Instrumentalists); and Glenn Kotche (Drums). They are one of my favorite artists, and if you look all the way back to our first Album of the Week post, you'll see that Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (alongside Neutral Milk Hotel) are my two favorite albums.
