Good evening friends, and welcome to another week, here on Looks Like Coffee, Tastes Like Juice. It seems the music world has been especially slow this week, so I've decided that today I will post my official Autumn mixtape (seeing as Autumn officially began 6 days prior to this post), some MORE TV on the Radio (I know I never get tired of them), and I'll also have a short piece about the new, up-and-running Sub Pop Singles Club. So, enjoy as you may.

I was actually planning on posting this NEXT august (when it's completed), but because of the lack of music this week, I figured I'd offer up a sneak peak of what's to come. Actually, I decided I'll be lazy, and take advantage of the miracle of that is copy and paste.

This run of The Sub Pop Singles Club will run for 1 year only, before returning to its secret island vacation spot for eternity (or until we here at Sub Pop feel masochistic enough to take on coordinating this debacle again.)

This year’s Sub Pop Singles Club will include records (of the 7” variety) with music from such artists as Om, Unnatural Helpers, Tyvek, Black Mountain, Black Lips, Arthur & Yu, Mika Miko, Blues Control, Notwist, plus some stuff we’re not yet at liberty to divulge. And they won’t come out in that particular order, necessarily.

Fact 3!
We will mail you 1 record per month, every month for an entire year beginning on August 15th with a fantastic pair of songs from Om.

For shipments to North America, you will pay us $75 in exchange for receiving this monthly boon from us. If you live elsewhere, in places outside of North America, we will require $90 from you.

We will be pressing 1,500 copies of each single and so the number of subscriptions available for sale will be correspondingly limited. When these subscriptions are gone, that’s it!

Hello dear world, and welcome to another week of pointless existence (this is how I begin to talk after the whole excitement of a new school year has worn off), here on Looks Like Coffee Tastes Like Juice. It's been a rather hectic week, as I've had family from Florida down, been just about everywhere, and finally got around to watching Burn After Reading (which was excellent by the way, but no The Big Lebowski). So, getting on to the actual content of today's post, we'll be having; TV On the Radio, Jack White & Alycia Keys and Calexico join us in sound today. Enjoy.

Calexico's Carried to Dust

If you couldn't tell by the subheading, Calexico have just released their new album, which is entitled Carried to Dust. For those of you who are unaware of Calexico's existence, fear not, I will accommodate.

Calexico are a ________(Insert a trillion genres) band, formed in 1996, by Joey Burns and John Convertino. They are from Tuscon, Arizona, have released 6 albums, and make fantastic music. That's all you really need to know.

Speaking of fantastic music, their new album is no exception. Filled with the beautiful melodies, harmonies and all things Calexico that make up the band's unique sound, it's definitely an album that warrants repeated listening. The reason I'd recommend repeated listening is because this album, much like their early material, has a very upfront appeal to it, but after that's stripped away by recognition, you start to realize the subtle complexity buried deep within the wall of sound. As each instrument, each tiny regiment of this wonderful album make themselves clear, you learn something new about this album. And as always, there is a lot to learn.

That's right, there is going to be a new James Bond movie coming out in about two months, entitled Quantum of Solace. Yeah, I know, could the name get anymore bad ass? Well, I'm sure everyone's already heard about this movie, and subsequently, it's Jack White/Alycia Keys theme song (which was helped by the Jack-White-angering Coke Zero ad). TV On the Radio's Dear Science

I have just finished listening to the new TVOTR album Dear Science for the 4 time, and like a previously mentioned record (**cough**Calexico**cough**) this album DEFINITELY gets better with listen. At the first listen this seems like a difficult prospect, seeing as the album is already fantastic, but rest assured, it definitely does improve. For fear of repeating myself like a broken record, let me just say that this album also has a subtle complexity about it, which is now expectant of TV On the Radio after the masterpiece Return To Cookie Mountain.

What is about this record that makes it so good though? The songs! So, take a listen to my personal favorites from the record, and then run/bus/walk/drive/fly/ski/rollerblade to your nearest record store on September 23rd, and BUY IT. Dear god, ignore the awful album cover and just buy it.
